This is a very small item, and its not even a garmet, but i really wanted to bring it up because its a beautiful idea behind it.


In 2002, Ossevort presented "Perfume Jewellery Pieces", a set of a necklace and a ring. It´s the shape of a waterdrop, very beautiful and appealing.


The idea is that two persons, connected to each other in some way, buys it. One takes the ring and the other one the necklace.

If you blow against for example, the necklace, it will send a radio transmitted signal back to the ring, which will release a gently perfume smell!


I´m very in to scents of all kind. Actually I think that scents is starting to get a bigger and more important role in the fashion industrie. Almost every designer has got at least one perfume. The fashion-houses are selling a whole lifestyle, not only the garmets. It contains clothes, make up, bags, scent, and interior!

So why not inaugurtate scent into the big fashion shows? Scent has a miraculous ability to bring emotions to you, in all ways you like.

There allready is garmets that secrete different smells as you move. If you want to create a special feeling around a fashion show, the smell is important too.

DIANA ENG, New York, USA

I have to talk about Diana Eng and her inflatable dress. She´s working with different kinds of tecnology. For example, shes putting cameras in bags that can blog for you while you are out shopping! Also she has created a hoodie with a hidden mini-camera that takes photos of youre heart-rate when you are in different moods.


And then she made the Inflatable dress. It´s a wedding-gown with a huge motor-instrument on the back that can blow air into the dress, creating different forms and shapes.

It´s similar to Hussein Chalayans work, who also works with changing shapes in clothes. But i didn ´t wanted to write about him. The difference between Eng and Chalayan is that Chalayans tecnical work is more sophisticated, you never get to se what makes the dress change shape, everything is allways hidden. Eng, however, shows how the motors are constructed in her creations, evrything is very clear to the eye. And that really fascinates me, because she makes the bond fashion/tecnology more obvious. And speaking of the dress, the motor and the hoses are very clear, but it actually fits the dress, there is a though behind how it´s placed on the dress, and it suits it! It almost looks elegant!


I have a huge fascination for clothing in movement, and Eng really captures it well.

Manel Torres, London, UK (p.86-88)

Since 1997, Torres and his companion Paul
Luckham have marketed the incredible “Spray On Fabric”, which is polymers and
suitable fibers that forms a non-woven fabric as you spray it directly on the
skin. I think it´s amazing, the innovation is superb. I Googled “Spray On
Fabric”, and it looks as if Torres and Luckham has got patent on their
invention.


In 2007 they launched the spray-on Bikini,
which is basically the same thing but in the shape of a bikinitop. The big
difference is that the bikini contains UV-protection particles AND Nicotine.


The idea is that the user of the bikini can sunbath without any damage from the
sun AND at the same time getting help giving up smoking. I really like the idea
of doing a fashionshow with the spray-fabric. Or if real models stood still in
different poses, so the audience could spray different creations on the models
themselves. This is a fascinating invention, you could do so many things with
it!

I think this is hillarious. Fashionvideos or commercials is a very big and important part of the campaign every season. Most fashionmovies are very serious and glamorous, almost booring sometimes. That´s why i love when Alber Elbaz creates this very funny and awkward video when the models dance to a Pitbull-hit. Elbaz himself is actually showing up in the end, which makes it even better. Even though Lanvin´s a very old and respected, SERIOUS fashionhouse, they does this, and shows that it´s nothing wrong with having fun with fashion. I think it´s brilliant.

In 2006, Lee Alexander McQueen started his Ready-To-Wear-show in an spectacular way. The show started with a hologram of supermodel Kate Moss, hovering over the stage like a ghost covered in ashes and smoke. I think it was an amazing way of reinventing fashion shows. But McQueen always does that.


Diesel did a similar thing in 2008, not as cool as McQueen, but it was still very interesting.
